New Business: Mayor told the council to discuss the hiring of Ross Greenwood as a third full time officer to give twenty four hour protection to the town. A motion was made to hire Ross Greenwood 'as a third full time officer by Councilman Turner, Councilman Miller seconded. Mayor called for any further discussion. Councilman Phillips asked for the hiring pay rate, Mayor stated it was twelve dollars an hour. Mayor called for vote on pending motion: Councilman Phillips - Yea Councilman Turner - Yea Councilman Miller - Yea Councilman Goolesby - Yea Councilman Owens - Yea Mayor - Yea Mayor told the council to discuss the speed limit on Alabama Highway 75, the town has received a letter from the Alabama Department of Transportation to make an ordinance for the speed limit upon the road. The mayor introduced 09-11 by first reading. Mayor conducted the reading. Mayor's Comments: Mayor stated that the council will not be addressing the rescue squad until after a meeting is held with them. There being no further business. Mayor Dendy asked to adjourn. Councilman Owens made a motion, seconded by Councilman Goolesby and passed unanimously. At 6:19 pm., the council adjourned. Next meeting will be held September 8, 2009 at 6:00 pm.
